It’s exactly one year to go until the World Para Swimming European Championships get underway in Dublin, Ireland, with the continent’s most exciting swimming talent battling it out to be crowned Europe’s best. So what do you need to know about this huge Para sport event?

1. Ireland will stage a major Para sport event for the first time ever.

2. Competition will take place in Irish capital city of Dublin from 13-19 August 2018.

3. Some of the world’s leading swimmers will attend the continental event, with over 500 swimmers from 40 countries expected to compete.

4. It will be the biggest competition held at the National Aquatic Centre in 15 years.

5. The first swimming Europeans were held in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 2009. Berlin, Germany, staged the second in 2011, followed by Eindhoven, the Netherlands, in 2014, and Funchal, Portugal, in 2016, with an ever-growing number of athletes and counties competing.
