Home favourite Helena Kasicka shone with triple gold medals as familiar faces emerged victorious at the Kosice 2023 Para Dance Sport World Cup that was held during the weekend (16 and 17 September).

Kasicka, the multiple-time World and European champion, yet again put Slovakia on top of the medals table as she triumphed in the women's single conventional class 1 before pairing up with Solc Martin for the combi Latin class 1 and combi standard class 1 & 2 titles.

The Slovakian stars were equally matched by Ukrainian world and European champion Ivan Sivak, who mesmerised the weekend crowd at Kosice with his dance moves in men's conventional class 1 & 2.

He also claimed the combi latin class 2 title pairing up with Olena Dankevych.

Surprise show

While there were expected results, there were some like Philippines’ Edelyn De Asis who surprised with her incredible dance moves, winning the hearts and gold medal at the World Cup.

De Asis triumphed in the women’s single conventional class 2 final ahead of star names like Austria's Sanja Vukasinovic and Sofie Cox of Belgium.

The Filipino dancer also took two silver medals in combi Latin class 2 and duo Latin class 1 & 2 with her respective partners.

However, Vukasinovic beat De Asis to take the gold in women's freestyle class 2 finals.

Meanwhile, Pawel Karpinski and Magdalena Matusiak put Poland on top of the podium with their brilliant show in duo Latin class 1 & 2 finals.

Turkey dancers also made their presence felt shining in duo standard class 1 category where the pair of Unal Abdul Kadir and Kocak Unal Nezihe emerged the winners.

As many as 50 dancers from 13 nations competed at the Kosice 2023 World Cup with the focus on preparing for the all-important Genoa 2023 Para Dance Sport World Championships in November.
