The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Italy have announced their team for the Mexico City 2017 World Para Swimming Championships, which will be held 30 September to 6 October.

Thirteen athletes will represent Italy, including teenage sensation Monica Boggioni, who has had an outstanding season so far. The 19-year-old Italian is coming off world record performances in the women's 100m and 200m freestyle S4 from the World Para Swimming World Series in Berlin, Germany, and national championships in July.

Double Paralympic silver medallist Francesco Bettella will look to add to the hardware he won from Rio 2016 in the men’s 50m and 100m backstroke S1.

After reaching the podium in the 50m freestyle and backstroke S3; and 200m freestyle S3 at the 2015 edition, Vincenzo Boni will aim to secure his first world titles in Mexico City.

Twenty-three-year-old Giulia Ghiretti will try to better her Paralympic success from Rio, where she took silver in the women’s 100m breaststroke SB4 and bronze in the 50m butterfly S5.

After finishing runner up at September’s Games, Arojla Trimi will hope her fortunes change in the women’s 50m freestyle S4.
