“Our goal is to make this the best European Championship ever, and we really cannot wait for the doors to open on 12 October.”

In under a month, Denmark will get to watch one of their home favourites and three-time Paralympic medallist Peter Rosenmeier play for a shot at the top spot in his class when Vejle hosts the 2015 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Para-Table Tennis European Championships (12-17 October).

Rosenmeier, ranked No. 2 in the world in the men’s class 6, is one of eight Danish para-table tennis players who will join more than 280 others playing for European titles.

“It will be a very special thing for sure, and I’m very excited about it,” said Rosenmeier, who will look to defend the European title he won in 2013 at Lignano, Italy. “I am confident that the Danes will come out in force to show their support, and for me that might make the difference in the toughest matches.”

To mark less than a month until the Championships, tickets have gone on sale for the 2015 ITTF Para-Table Tennis European Championships, which are available on Ticketmaster.

Tickets can be purchased as one-day tickets at DKK 50 or as passes for the whole week for DKK 130.

More than 30 European countries will compete in the brand new arena Spektrum, where 12 courts will be set up for the tournament.

Additionally, the organisers are attempting to break the Guinness World record of the longest table tennis match with more than 500 players participating over the course of seven days. The areas surrounding Spektrum will feature many activities and exhibits displaying the world of para-sport in Denmark.

“We really think that all the conditions are in place for us to be able to offer a fun and exciting event for people of all ages,” said Mette Holstein Arnesen, event director from the Danish Sports Organisation for the Disabled.

“Our goal is to make this the best European Championship ever, and we really cannot wait for the doors to open on 12 October.”

The Danish Sports Organisation of the Disabled organises the 2015 ITTF Para-Table Tennis European Championships with EliteVejle, Vejle Municipality, Sport Event Denmark, The Danish Table Tennis Federation and the ITTF.
