An International Organization of Sport for the Disabled (IOSD) is an independent organization recognized by the IPC as the sole representative of a specific disability group to the IPC.

Membership: The IPC currently recognises four (4) IOSDs; the Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association (CP-ISRA), the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), the International Sports Federation for Persons with an Intellectual Disability (INAS-FID) and the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS). 

Function: IOSDs co-operate with the IPC in providing the disability specific expertise required to develop sport for athletes with a disability from the grass roots level to elite level. They are the governing body for some of the disability specific sports participating at the Paralympic Games. They also co-ordinate their development activities with the IPC.

Status: As members of the IPC, IOSDs have the right to submit motions, vote and be heard at meetings of the Members, nominate candidates for appropriate IPC bodies and may participate in all IPC activities, subject to meeting eligibility criteria of the respective activity. 

Note: In November 2004, the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation (ISMWSF) and the International Sports Organization for the Disabled (ISOD) merged to constitute the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS).
