Popovich Finalist for Sportswoman of the Year

US Paralympian Erin Popovich is a finalist for the Sportswoman of the Year
Award, given annually by the Women’s Sport Foundation.
The Sportswoman of the Year Award
is presented to two outstanding athletes whose performances during the past 12
months (1 August 2004 to 31 July 2005) have been exceptional. Criteria include
championships won, records set and awards won.
At the ATHENS 2004 Paralympic Games, Popovich won five individual
gold medals (class S7) and two relay gold medals.
Past
recipients of the Sportswoman of the Year Award include Sue Bird, Bonnie Blair,
Natalie Coughlin, Chris Evert, Mia Hamm, Sarah Hughes, Juli Inkster, Jackie
Joyner-Kersee, Michelle Kwan, Lisa Leslie, Misty May-Treanor, Martina
Navratilova, Annika Sorenstam, Sheryl Swoopes, Kerri Walsh and Serena and Venus
Williams.
