París 2024 acoge Seminario de Jefes de Misión un año antes de Juegos Paralímpicos

París 2024 acogió el Seminario de Jefes de Misión de los Comités Paralímpicos Nacionales (CPN), que reunió a más de 350 participantes, en persona y a distancia. El Comité Organizador presentó la visión, las ambiciones y los avances del proyecto a los representantes de 174 CPNs durante el seminario, que tuvo lugar entre el 24 y el 29 de agosto.

A falta de un año para los Juegos Paralímpicos, los Jefes de Misión también pudieron recibir respuestas a sus preguntas y familiarizarse con las sedes de competencia y la Villa Paralímpica.  

Preparación para París 2024

Como los Jefes de Misión son responsables de sus delegaciones nacionales, este seminario fue un paso importante en la preparación de los Juegos, para garantizar la mejor experiencia posible para los atletas y permitirles concentrarse plenamente en sus actuaciones deportivas.

En los debates con el Comité Organizador se abordaron cuestiones clave como el alojamiento, el transporte, la seguridad, los servicios médicos, las celebraciones y las ceremonias.  

"Detrás del éxito de cada atleta hay un Jefe de Misión y un Comité Paralímpico Nacional. Los equipos de París 2024 están apoyando a los Comités Paralímpicos Nacionales para que juntos podamos preparar unos Juegos Paralímpicos únicos, sin precedentes y espectaculares", dijo Tony Estanguet, presidente de París 2024.

"Los Juegos Paralímpicos tienen el poder de transformar nuestras sociedades y estoy convencido de que Francia saldrá cambiada la mañana del 9 de septiembre de 2024 tras 12 días de emociones Paralímpicas. Nuestra misión colectiva es crear compromiso y embarcar al mundo entero en la magia de los Juegos Paralímpicos".

A lo largo de los seis días, los Jefes de Misión tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar las sedes de competencia y otros sitios relacionados con los Juegos Paralímpicos. Entre los lugares que visitaron figuran el Stade de France, sede del Para atletismo, el Estadio Roland-Garros, que acogerá los partidos de tenis en silla de ruedas, y el Centro Nacional de Tiro de Chateauroux. 

Durante este último año de preparativos, París 2024 seguirá promoviendo y desarrollando la accesibilidad universal en Francia a través de los Juegos Paralímpicos, que dejarán un legado significativo y duradero.

Los Jefes de Misión también participaron en una visita a la Villa Paralímpica, que se transformará en un nuevo barrio después de los Juegos, donde la mayoría de los alojamientos serán accesibles. Almorzaron en la Cité du Cinéma, que albergará el restaurante principal de la Villa.  

El 28 de agosto, los participantes se reunieron en el Grand Palais Ephémère, que será el escenario de las pruebas de Para judo y rugby en silla de ruedas el año que viene, para lanzar la cuenta atrás de un año para los primeros Juegos Paralímpicos de verano en Francia.

Falta un año

Participants expressed their excitement toward the Paris 2024 Paralympics, which will take place between 28 August and 8 September.

Marie-Amélie Le Fur, President of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee, said: "With one year to go until the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the French Paralympic and Sports Committee is delighted to take part in the Chefs de Mission Seminar, which was held at the headquarters of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee. 

“National Paralympic Committees from around the world were able to meet in the City of Light and together launch the countdown to the Opening Ceremony on 28 August 2024." 

Penny Briscoe, Chef de Mission for the British Paralympic Association said: "Being in Paris with friends from global National Paralympic Committees alongside colleagues from the Paris 2024 Organising Committee and the International Paralympic Committee is hugely important as we celebrate ‘One Year to Go’ to Paris 2024.

“The collaboration and commitment to deliver spectacular, transformative Games, and an incredible athlete experience, is evident and I’m hugely excited by the progress that has been made. Without doubt, these will be innovative, inclusive and impactful Games and I’m confident athletes, officials, volunteers and spectators will experience the very best of Paris and France. As a team we can’t wait for next year!“

Tomohiro Ida, Secretary General for the Japanese Paralympic Committee said: “After the recent Games, both summer and winter, that took place in Asia in 2018, 2021 and 2022, the spotlight is now on Europe and finally, the time of Games held during the pandemic has come to an end.  

"We believe that the Paris 2024 Games will have a great significance and mark the return of spectators in the stadiums. Competition venues located in iconic places of the city and a spectacular Opening Ceremony in the heart of Paris. The NPCs gathered for the Chef de Mission Seminar are confident that the Games next year will be special and successful.“

Kate McLoughlin, Chef de Mission for Paralympics Australia said: “It’s clear that a huge amount of work is being done in Paris to ensure that our athletes have access to a world class performance environment for the Games next year.

"We look forward to seeing how preparations continue to take shape and know that organisers are motivated to not only cater for the unique needs of our Para athletes but are also driven to showcase our amazing Paralympic movement to the world.”
