Candidates announced for Milano Cortina 2026 IPC Athletes' Council elections

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced that five candidates have been nominated to run for election during the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games to fill three winter representative roles on the IPC Athletes’ Council.

The IPC Athletes’ Council is a group of elected athlete representatives who act as the collective voice of the Para athlete community within the IPC and Paralympic Movement. The Athletes’ Council’s role is to provide feedback and advice and report to the Governing Board on IPC matters from the athletes’ perspective, on behalf of and in the interests of Paralympic athletes, and to engage with the athlete community. The chairperson of the IPC Athletes’ Council and first vice-chairperson are also members of the IPC Governing Board as ex-officio voting members.

The election for the IPC Athletes' Council will take place from 4 March to 13 March during the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games in PLY House in each of the three Paralympic Villages (Cortina d’Ampezzo, Milano, and Predazzo).

Of the five candidates, four are male, one female and all are actively competing athletes. Candidates span three sports and five countries. The candidates are:

The three IPC Athletes‘ Council members elected at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games will be unveiled at the Closing Ceremony of the Games on 15 March 2026. They will then join the six summer representatives who were elected during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, as well as appointed members and the IOC Athletes’ Commission Chair, to form the IPC Athletes‘ Council.

All accredited athletes competing at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games are encouraged to vote in the elections to ensure their voice is heard and their sport and region is represented.

All Athletes’ Council candidates must compete in the current edition of the Paralympic Games at which the election is taking place or have competed in either of the previous two editions of the Paralympic Winter Games (Beijing 2022 and PyeongChang 2018).
