Paralympic Games Direct Slots Allocation

04 Jun 2010 By IPC

Dear IPC Shooting friends,

Following from some comments and enquires raised by some of you at the recent IPC World Cups, IPC Shooting would like to clarify the status of the IPC Shooting London 2012 Paralympic Games Qualification Criteria, in particular the direct slots allocation method.

The published IPC Shooting London 2012 Paralympic Games Qualification Criteria which was published on the IPC website on January 2010, was developed and approved by the former IPC Shooting Technical Committee in accordance with its mandate. From early days the IPC Shooting Management Team identified that the competitions that had been assigned for the direct slots allocation didn’t offer equal opportunity to all NPCs and some were not within the qualification period.

However, due to the resignation of the majority of the IPC Shooting Committee, we decided that before any change was made it was essential to discuss it with the new IPC Shooting Technical Committee.

We are now in position to inform you that IPC Shooting is already working on an alternative proposal that addresses the issues outlined above. This new proposal will be included for discussion on the agenda of the 2010 IPC Shooting Sport Forum in Zagreb. Our plan is to publish the new IPC Shooting London 2012 Paralympic Games Qualification Criteria London 2012 Paralympic Games Qualification Criteria shortly after.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to receive your feedback on the new proposal.
