Wheelchair fencing World Cup comes to Hungary

Hungary’s Zsuzsanna Krajnyak will be one to keep tabs on during the Cup, as she is coming off a successful London 2012 Paralympic Games performance, where she won two silvers and a bronze.

The IWAS Wheelchair Fencing World Cup in Eger, Hungary will draw 64 athletes from 11 countries, beginning on Friday (30 November).

The three-day event will feature competition across the foil, epee and sabre disciplines and will be organised by the Hungarian Paralympic Committee.

Hungary’s Zsuzsanna Krajnyak will be one to keep tabs on during the Cup, as she is coming off a successful London 2012 Paralympic Games performance, where she won two silvers and a bronze.

Russia will have the largest delegation in Eger with 18 competitors, while Great Britain will be represented by seven athletes, including Craig McCann, Gabi Down and Gemma Collis.

London 2012 Paralympic torchbearer Beatrice Vio, 15, will also take part in the event. Vio, the only wheelchair fencer in the world with no arms and no legs, just became a part of Italy’s team this year and is already their top female wheelchair fencer and is aiming to make a name for herself by qualifying for Rio 2016.
