• Slovakia made its Paralympic Winter Games debut in Lillehammer in 1994, following the break-up of Czechoslovakia, which had participated from 1976 to 1992

• Slovakia has won 37 medals total at the Winter Paralympics, six gold, 15 silver and 16 bronze medals

• All six of Slovakia's Winter Paralympic gold medals came at Vancouver in 2010. The six were split evenly by two alpine skiers, Jakub Krako and Henrieta Farkasová, who will both star in Sochi

• Slovakia has won Winter Paralympic medals in three sports: alpine skiing – six gold, 12 silver and 15 bronze; biathlon – two silver and one bronze; and cross-country skiing – one silver

• In winning eight medals (five silver and three bronze), alpine skier Jozef Mistina has won more Winter Paralympic medals than any other Slovakian

• Apart from their 37 medals at the Winter Paralympics, Slovakia has also collected 48 medals at the Summer Paralympics made up if 14 gold, 16 silver and 18 bronze.
