The 15th edition of the L'Hospitalet International Meeting is going ahead on Saturday (31 October) with more than 50 athletes taking on the L’Hospitalet Nord Municipal Sports Complex, near Barcelona.

The traditional Para athletics competition was initially scheduled to take place in May, but had to be postponed to October because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Travel restrictions imposed by the pandemic have forced most international names to cancel their participation in the 2020 meeting. But the best of Spain will be in action.

Bronze medallist in the women's long jump T11 in her World Championships debut in Dubai last year, Meritxell Playa is set to compete in the women's 100m and the long jump.

The multiclass events will see her go head to head with London 2017 medallists Sara Andres Barrio and Sara Martinez.

Last year, Barrio set a new world record in the women's long jump T62 in the Catalonian meeting.

Rio 2016 men's shot put F12 gold medallist Kim Lopez will be going for gold both in the men's discus throw and shot put.

Men's 5000m T13 silver medallist at Dubai 2019, Yassine Ouhdadi will be in familiar territory representing home club Hospitalet Atletisme in his favourite race.

In the men's long jump, Beijing 2008 bronze medallist Javier Porras will be trying to reach the qualification mark to his fifth Paralympic Games at Tokyo 2020.

Athletes from Ecuador, Greece, Italy and Venezuela are also set to take part in the L'Hospitalet International Meeting.

More information and results can be found on L'Hospitalet's official website (in Catalan, English and Spanish).
