1. In 1996 - aged just 10-years-old – Hug competed in his first event, and won.

2. In 2013 Hug became the first Swiss male para-athlete to the win the New York Marathon.

3. He was named Disabled Sportsperson of the Year at the Credit Suisse Sports Awards in Zurich, Switzerland last year – an award he also won in 2011 and 2013. Hug was also nominated for the 2014 Laureus World Sports Awards.

4. He has won a phenomenal 15 world medals.

5. The 29-year-old is the current world record holder in the 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m and 10,000m T54.

The IPC Athletics World Championships will take place in Doha, Qatar, between 21-31 October, attracting 1,400 athletes from 100 countries.
