The third Co-ordination Commission was an excellent opportunity to clarify questions and discuss important issues only seven months out of the Games

During the third Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) Co-ordination Commission in Guangzhou, China, members of the APC and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), including APC President Dato’ Zainal Abu Zarin and IPC CEO Xavier Gonzalez, were briefed on the progress of the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games.

From 10-11 May, the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (GAPGOC) gave detailed presentations about the preparations for the Games. During various sessions a range of topics was discussed, including the organization of competitions, sport venues and barrier-free facilities, broadcasting and media services, accommodation, catering, transport, classification and the Chef de Mission Seminar. A venue tour rounded off the two days meeting.

The APC and IPC were satisfied with the preparations for Guangzhou 2010 but gave some further suggestions for the work ahead. "The third Co-ordination Commission was an excellent opportunity to clarify questions and discuss important issues only seven months out of the Games", said IPC CEO Xavier Gonzalez.

The Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games will take place from 12-19 December 2010, with around 3,000 athletes from more than 40 Asian countries participating in 19 sports.
