The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) calls for expressions of interest from cities, national governments, sport organisations, sport sponsors, global brands, universities and other entities interested in partnering with the IPC to transfer the governance of the sport of Para powerlifting.

Para powerlifting is one of the World Para Sports, the group of international Para sports under the governance of the IPC, currently based in Bonn, Germany at the IPC Headquarters.

Para powerlifting has been in the Paralympic Games since 1984. More than 100 nations actively compete in Para powerlifting events.

In October 2019, the IPC published its Governance Review Proposal which includes a managed process for the World Para Sports to become independent from the IPC. In December 2021, the IPC Membership voted in favour of the proposal at the IPC General Assembly. Since then, five Para sports have transferred out of the IPC successfully.

Potential bidders are invited to express their interest as soon as possible and no later than 31 May via the email address  WorldParaSports@paralympic.org.

Thereafter, potential bidders will receive the Request for Proposal. The IPC will host engagement meetings to provide interested parties with more information about the process in mid-2024.
