Nikelis and Mueller Athletes of the Year 2010 in Cologne

Holger Nikelis and Edina Mueller have been selected as the Athletes of the Year 2010 of the city of Cologne, Germany.

Table Tennis player Nikelis and Wheelchair Basketball player Mueller were voted by the Cologne public in an online vote to be the Cologne Athletes of the Year 2010.

Mueller, who was left paraplegic after a surgery at the age of 16, is part of the successful German Wheelchair Basketball team who won the silver medal at the IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships last year.

Nikelis, who has been a tetraplegic since the age of 18, won a gold medal at the ITTF Table Tennis World Championships in Gwangju, Korea.

Both Nikelis and Mueller are now looking forward to the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Nikelis wants to win another gold medal after his victory at the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games, and Mueller has her sights on another medal after winning silver at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
