Superhero Sunday: Great Britain’s Hannah Cockcroft

Great Britain’s Hannah Cockroft hit the headlines when she won double gold in the 100m and 200m T34 in front of an ecstatic home crowd at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The 23-year-old quickly became a popular public figure – and a hero to many young aspiring athletes.

In the penultimate #Superhero Sunday before the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships get underway in Doha, Qatar, it’s time for the four-time world champion to reveal who her heroes are.

1. My Dad

He works so hard for incredibly little recognition and I definitely wouldn’t be where I am without him.

2. Chantal Petitclerc – (Canadian wheelchair racer, winner of 21 Paralympic medals including 14 gold across five Games)

I was lucky to have her as my Games coach in London. Her knowledge on the sport and on just being at a Paralympic Games was invaluable to me. She is basically just an incredible athlete.

3. Wonder Woman (Fictional superhero)

I just want to be like her!

The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha, Qatar, between 21-31 October is set to attract 1,300 athletes from 100 countries.
