ARNHEM 1980 PARALYMPIC MASCOTS

The first Paralympic mascots were created through a competition held by AVRO, a Dutch broadcasting company, in which entrants were asked to send in hand-made models. The winning bid, a pair of squirrels crafted by Necky Oprinsen from St. Michelsgestel, Netherlands, was printed on memorabilia sold in Arnhem.
