Bonn has been the previous federal capital of West Germany, but after the Reunification of West and East Germany in 1991, most government institutions moved to Berlin. Nevertheless, the city remains politically important since it has attracted several international organisations and hosts a big United Nations campus since 1996. The city of Bonn has provided the IPC’s first headquarters from 1999 to 2023 and supports the IPC in a number of other collaborations as well.
