With great sadness, World Para Athletics has learnt of the sudden passing of Australian long jumper Nicholas Hum at the age of 32.

One of Australia’s most accomplished long jumpers over the past decade, Hum’s career-defining moment came at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, where he claimed the bronze medal.

He made his international debut at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in Christchurch. Last year, Hum competed for the final time at the Paralympic Games in Paris, with his career spanning three Games and five World Para Athletics Championships.

Hum still holds the Australian record in the men’s long jump T20, with a distance of 7.39m.

Highly regarded for his commitment, generosity of spirit and care for those around him, he leaves behind a legacy among teammates and competitors, coaches and staff.

World Para Athletics sends its deepest condolences to Nicholas Hum’s family and friends, and to the entire Para athletics community in Australia.
