03 Jun 2011 By IPC

It will be an all Dutch affair at Roland Garros, Paris, today as the world’s number one Wheelchair Tennis player Esther Vergeer meets compatriot and world number seven Marjoelin Buis in the final of the French Open.

Vergeer is aiming for her fifth consecutive French Open title and will start the match as favourite having lost just five games on her way to the final.

Undefeated since January 2003, a run of over 400 games, Vergeer will face stiff competition against Buis who has been in good form recently winning the Korea Open Singles and Doubles titles last week.

Buis was made to work hard in her semi-final dropping the first-set on a tie break to Jiske Griffioen, before winning the final two sets 7-5. 7-5.

The Women’s Doubles final will also feature two Dutch pairings with the number one seeds Vergeer and world number one doubles player Sharon Walraven facing number two seeds Aniek Van Koot and Jiske Griffioen.

In the Men’s Singles Final, Frenchman and world number five Nicolas Peifer will hope for home support as he takes on world number two Maikel Scheffers of the Netherlands.

The Doubles final will see the Frenchman Peifer pair up with world number two doubles player Shingo Kunieda of Japan to play Robin Ammerlaan of the Netherlands and Stefan Olsson of Sweden.

All the action will take place on Court 7 at Roland Garros from 11am CET.
