Brazil Beats Argentina to Win 5-a-side International Challenge

The traditional football rivalry between Brazil and Argentina had another exciting episode last Sunday (11 September) in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, during the Football 5-a-side International Challenge.

As part of the preparations for November’s Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, a tournament involving four visually impaired teams - Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Spain – was organized.

The tournament hosts claimed the title with a thrilling 2-0 victory over Argentina. Brazilian goalkeeper, Fabio Luiz, was named “man of the match” due to some amazing saves that helped Brazil to secure the result.

Third place went to Spain after they defeated Mexico 2-1.The event also played an important role in the preparation of the Spanish team who, later this month, will compete in the European Championships with the aim of qualifying for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
