“We are proud to host the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships. We focus a lot on the integration and, in doing so, what would be better than showing Denmark and the Danes, how fascinating and professional para table tennis is.”

Vejle, Denmark, has been announced as the host city of the 2015 ITTF Para-Table Tennis European Championships following the conclusion of last weekend’s successful European Championships in Lignano, Italy.

The City of Vejle, EliteVejle, Sport Event Denmark, the Danish Table Tennis Association and the Danish Sports Organisation for the Disabled jointly applied to host the 2015 ITTF Para-Table Tennis European Championships.

The 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships will provide yet another great opportunity to experience disability sport at the highest international level in Denmark. Previously, the nation held the 2011 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships and the 2013 FEI Para Dressage European Championships, and next year will host the 2014 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championships.

Director of the Danish Table Tennis Association Dorte Darfelt said: “We are proud to host the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships. We focus a lot on the integration and, in doing so, what would be better than showing Denmark and the Danes, how fascinating and professional para table tennis is.”

The Danish hosting also gives the opportunity for Denmark's best player, Peter Rosenmeier, to defend his newly won European Class 6 title at home.

The Danish players won three medals in total at this year’s World Championships. In addition to Rosenmeier’s title, Sophie Walloe won bronze in women’s singles Class 10, and Rosenmeier and Brian Nielsen won gold in the team competition in class 6.

The most recent Championships in Lignano drew 290 athletes from 29 different countries across 11 different classifications in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
