Dutch Athletes Rise to the Top at Doubles Masters

Tom Egberink of the Netherlands and Michael Jeremiasz of France won an enthralling men's final watched by Princess Margriet of the Netherlands on Sunday (6 November) at the Invacare Doubles Masters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The duo upset second-seeded Robin Ammerlaan of the Netherlands and Stephane Houdet of France in the finals, capturing a 6-4, 6-2 victory to snatch the title.

In the third-place game, top-seeded Maikel Scheffers and Ronald Vink of the Netherlands defeated Stefan Olsson and Peter Vikstrom of Sweden, 6-2, 6-2.

Sharon Walraven and Esther Vergeer of the Netherlands took the crown in the women’s final with a hard-fought 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory over teammates Jiske Griffioen and Aniek van Koot. The top-seeded duo, which was able to march back after being down a set, had already won all four Grand Slam finals this year.

In the quad competition, top-seeded Nick Taylor and David Wagner of the USA won their fifth Doubles Masters title with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Italy’s Antonio Raffaele and the Netherlands’ Dorrie Timmermans-van Hall.
