Brazil’s three-time Roland Garros champion Gustavo Kuerten and Brazilian Paralympic Committee President and International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Vice President Andrew Parsons participated in a wheelchair tennis festival on 1 June, in Paris, France.

France’s Beijing 2008 wheelchair tennis gold medallist Michael Jeremiasz and French Paralympic Committee (FPC) President Emmanuelle Asmann also took part in this event called ‘Wheelchair Tennis for All,’ which aimed to raise awareness of the sport ahead of Rio 2016.

Kuerten, who serves as an ambassador for the Brazilian Paralympic Committee, participated in the wheelchair tennis draws for this year’s Roland Garros.

"It is great to have a community who enjoys tennis and gets engaged with a wheelchair tennis event. This type of festival sends a nice message for everyone to play sports," said Parsons.

"It is really cool to be here at the invitation of the FPC and attend such a big party of adapted sports.”
