Hungary, Ukraine shine at Wheelchair Fencing World Cup

Anton Datsko came away victorious in both the men’s foil and sabre category B events during the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup in Eger, Hungary.

Datsko won two titles in Eger, coming away victorious in both the men’s foil and sabre category B events.

Hungary’s Zsuzsanna Krajnyak, Poland’s Darusz Pender and Ukraine’s Anton Datsko all stared at the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup last weekend (29 November – 2 December) in Eger, Hungary.

 

Krajnyak, a bronze medallist at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, won the women’s epee and foil category A events, while Pender, a gold medallist in London, took the title in the men’s epee category A.

 

Datsko won two titles in Eger, coming away victorious in both the men’s foil and sabre category B events.

 

Elsewhere for Ukraine, Andriy Demchuk and Vadym Tsedryk swiped the top two spots in the men’s sabre category A and the delegation also won the men’s team event.

 

Poland’s Marta Makowska put in a solid performance in the women’s epee category B to take home the gold, while Hungary’s Dani Gyongi won the women’s foil category B ahead of Italy’s Beatrice Vio, who was a London 2012 torchbearer.

 

Hungary won the women’s team event, with Russia finishing second.
