Lord Mayor of Sheffield Challenges Table Tennis Star

Coun Sylvia Dunkley, the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, England, recently had the chance to test her Table Tennis skills against elite Paralympic athlete Sue Gilroy.

Dunkley visited the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield to watch Gilroy train for the British Open Para table Tennis Championships in September and then had the chance to challenge Gilroy herself.

Gilroy, who will be one of Great Britain’s best come the 2012 Paralympic Games, is training for next month’s British Open, an event that will attract more than 400 elite players from 39 different countries. The competition will take place from 14-17 September.

Sheffield native Kim Daybell and Will Bayley, who is ranked. No. 2 in the world, will also be competing in the event.
