With the current European champions putting in their final preparations at the High Performance Centre in Madrid, Spain, before heading to Tokyo, Cardinal acknowledged the effort and work of the players and urged them to give their maximum in the competition.

"We hope that things go in Tokyo as well as you deserve," he said.

The 10 players that will represent Spain are: José Luis Giera, Francisco Javier Muñoz, Youssef El Haddaoui, Vicente Aguilar, Adolfo Acosta, Francisco Marfil, Antonio Martín Gaitán, Carmelo Garrido, Pedro Gutierrez, Sergio Rodriguez.

Drawn into Group C, Spain will face 2002 and 2006 winners Argentina, Germany and South Korea.

Meanwhile, Group A consists of Japan, France, Paraguay and Morocco, and Group B contains reigning world champions Brazil, Turkey, China and Colombia.

Spain will be looking to build on their performances at previous World Championships by winning the title, having lost in the final twice – in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2002, and Hereford, Great Britain, in 2010.

They have also come close to winning the Paralympic title on two occasions, having to settle for bronze at Athens 2004 and London 2012.

All matches are set to be streamed live throughout the competition. For more information, visit the IBSA Football 5-a-side World Championships website.
