Roger Bollinger has been nominated by Swiss Paralympics to compete in the 2015 UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships taking place in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, from 26-29 March.

An above-the-knee leg amputee, 40-year-old Bollinger achieved his best result in Aguascalientes, Mexico, at last year’s World Championships, finishing fifth in the 1,000m time-trial, breaking the 10-year-old Swiss record.

Bollinger believes he has benefited from improved training opportunities in the velodrome Suisse in Grenchen: “I was able to train together with Daniel Gisiger [able-bodied Swiss cyclist], which has been very motivating. I hope to be able to achieve a top result like my able-bodied colleagues have done in Paris.”

Bollinger is not only aiming at a top-result for himself, but he is also looking to secure qualification slots for Switzerland for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
