Top Wheelchair Tennis Players Head to Boca Raton for Florida Open

This week’s Florida Open in Boca Raton, which starts on Wednesday, is the first Super Series event on the 2011 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour.

Once again the tournament boasts a class field that includes 8 of the world’s top 10 ranked men’s players, 7 of the world’s top 10 ranked women’s player and 6 of the world’s top 10 quad players.

World No 2 Stefan Olsson of Sweden and world No. 3 Stephane Houdet of France head the men’s entries and already have titles under their belts this season along with Dutchman Ronald Vink and Nicolas Peifer of France.

World No. 1 Esther Vergeer once again heads the women’s entries, with five of the eight women’s seeds all hailing from Netherlands. Vergeer arrives in Boca Raton after extending her winning to 408 matches at the Pensacola Open on Sunday.

Britain’s Peter Norfolk and David Wagner of the USA head the quad singles entry, having both beaten each other in NEC Tour finals this season. World No 2 Norfolk defeated world No. 1 Wagner in Pensacola on Sunday in the last tournament before heading to Boca Raton.
