World's top sitting volleyballers to contest first men's Super 6

Six of the world’s best male sitting volleyball national teams will face-off at the Super 6, set to take place in Tabriz, Iran, between 19 and 24 April. This will be the second edition of the international competition, which only included women’s teams last year and saw Russia* taking gold in Hangzhou, China.

The event will feature reigning world champions Bosnia and Herzegovina, Paralympic gold medallists Iran, world No.6 Germany, No.9 Russia, No.5 Ukraine and No.8 USA.

Competition will be contested in a round-robin format, with all six teams facing each other once and the overall best two qualifying for the final on 24 April. The third and fourth will play for the bronze.

The Super 6 will kick off on 19 April with the game between Germany and Ukraine, followed by Bosnia & Herzegovina vs. USA and Iran vs. Russia.

*Editor's note: The International Paralympic Committee suspended the Russian Paralympic Committee on 7 August 2016 for its inability to fulfil its IPC membership responsibilities and obligations, in particular its obligation to comply with the IPC Anti-Doping Code and the World Anti-Doping Code (to which it is also a signatory). As a result of the suspension, Russian athletes cannot enter IPC sanctioned events or competitions, including the Paralympic Games.
