Lex Gillette: Paralympic pick-up lines
With the IPC Athletics World Championships coming up in Lyon, France, here are some lines to chat up that one special person. 03 Jul 2013“I know that you know my eyes don't work, but baby let me reassure you that everything else about me works just fine, including my phone so … can I have your number?”
In just a few weeks, athletes from all over the world will travel to Lyon, France for the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships.
Nearly 1,300 athletes from 90 countries are expected to be in attendance.
With so many high-calibre athletes in one athletics stadium, there are sure to be some heated rivalries, eye-popping performances and overwhelming emotions available for spectators to view.
And once athletes are done being athletes, they will enjoy their time connecting with friends that they haven't seen since the London Paralympics.
There will even be new friendships being made. And after competition, there will even be athletes looking to go on a date, or two.
A date? Of course, why not?
With 1,300 athletes crammed into one athletics stadium, there has to be at least one person to enjoy a nice French cuisine with once competition is over.
And most guys would hope that that cuisine might be enjoyed with … (cough) Kelly (cough) Cartwright.
When they're not being interviewed by reporters or competing in front of thousands of spectators, Paralympians are enjoying life just like anyone else would, and that includes dating.
So, if you want to catch the attention of one out of the many athletes in Lyon, maybe you should consider sparking up a conversation by using pick-up lines.
Oh yeah, and I totally have the ones that will melt their heart, or it may just send the person into hysterics. So, listen up!
“Are you Google? Because you have everything I'm searching for.”
“Excuse me, hi, I'm writing a term paper on the finer things in life, and I was wondering if I could interview you?”
(Hold out hand) “Would you hold this while I go for a walk?”
“Do you have a Band Aid? (Why?) Because I just scraped my knee falling for you.”
“Was that an earthquake or did you just rock my world?”
(As she’s leaving) “Hey, aren't you forgetting something? (What?) Me!”
“I have a boyfriend.” (Guy says, "I have a pet goldfish.") “What?” (Guy says, “I thought we were talking about things that didn't matter.")
“People call me John, but you can call me tonight.”
“You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, it did. Here are some pick-up lines especially for Paralympians. There's no way you can get turned down with these. Oh, and you can thank me later for this.
“Let's go out sometime. I have first-row parking at the mall.”
“I can't see you, but can you see me? (Yes.) What about tomorrow night?”
“I'm going heads over wheels for you.”
“I know that you know my eyes don't work, but baby let me reassure you that everything else about me works just fine, including my phone so … can I have your number?”
There you have it. Yes, I know some of these are pretty cheesy and funny, but I can't imagine you not getting a smile out of someone.
Who knows, maybe you'll say the perfect line that will catch that person's attention.
Or even better, maybe you'll be spotted holding hands with your date at the World Championships Closing Ceremony.
And guess what? It will all be because of that clever one-liner.
