Advancing Para Sport Through Research

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is committed to supporting high quality research that enhances the development, impact, and understanding of the Paralympic Movement. Through evidence-based research, we aim to improve athlete health and performance, strengthen inclusion and integrity, support innovation across all areas of Para sport, and advance the sociocultural understanding of disability and sport within diverse communities.

The IPC supports and, where possible, facilitates research at the Paralympic Games relevant to the Paralympic Movement.

Application guidelines for researchers

Please review our research policy for more information about the submission and review processes. This document serves as a guideline for applicants seeking to undertake research related to Paralympic sport.

Research application forms to be completed and submitted to the IPC in different stages of the research approval process.

Note: Research at IPC events requires IPC approval.

An overview of previous research projects can be found here

Note: If you are interested in conducting research in a particular Para sport (outside the Paralympic Games), please contact the relevant International Federation directly. For example, research at the UCI Para Cycling World Championships requires approval from the UCI, not the IPC.
