Paralympic legend is one of the stars in the 20th edition of the tradition Para athletics international event in Spain 16 May 2025
The 20th edition of the Para Athletics Meeting of L’Hospitalet is set to take place on 17 May (Saturday) at L’Hospitalet Nord, near Barcelona. The prestigious event will once again bring together elite Para athletes from around the world, headlined by Germany’s multi-Paralympic and world champion Markus Rehm.
A four-time Paralympic champion and seven-time world champion in the long jump, Rehm has produced electrifying performances at L’Hospitalet in previous years. In 2023, he set a world record in the men’s long jump T64 with a leap of 8.64m at the event. Later, in 2024, he improved his own mark to the current world record of 8.72m in a competition in Germany. This year, Rehm will be aiming to push the limits once again in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Dutch Paralympic champion Fleur Jong also returns to L’Hospitalet with high expectations. She made history at the 2022 edition, setting a world record in the women’s long jump T62 with a jump of 6.23m. Jong has since raised the bar, with her current world record standing at 6.74m, and she is determined to replicate her past success at the event.
Stars from Spain
Spain will be strongly represented, with several world and Paralympic medalists competing, including Adiaratou Iglesias, Joan Munar, Gerard Descarrega, and Desiree Vila. They will be keen to secure top performances ahead of September's World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India.
