Cairo 2025 World Championships preliminary competition schedule released
The Rookie and Next Gen Worlds will be held over two days for the first time, followed by eight days of the Elite competition this October in Egypt 24 Jul 2025
World Para Powerlifting has announced the preliminary competition schedule for the 2025 World Championships, set to take place in Cairo, Egypt.
For the first time, the Rookie & Next Gen World Championships will span over two days (9-10 October), reflecting the growing strength and depth of junior athletes worldwide.
The Rookie & Next Gen Worlds will be followed by eight days of the Elite World Championships, running from 11 to 18 October.
The Championships will once again conclude with men’s and women’s team events, which debuted in the last edition at Dubai 2023 – alongside the mixed team events, first introduced at Tbilisi 2021.
Cairo 2025 marks a historic milestone as the first time a World Para Powerlifting World Championships will be hosted in Africa.

Cairo 2025 Rookie & Next Gen World Championships
9 October
Men: up to 49 kg, up to 54 kg, up to 59 kg, up to 65 kg.
Women: up to 41 kg, up to 45 kg, up to 50 kg, up to 55 kg.
10 October
Men: up to 72 kg, up to 80 kg, up to 88 kg, up to 97 kg, up to 107 kg, over 107 kg.
Women: up to 61 kg, up to 67 kg, up to 73 kg, up to 79 kg, up to 86 kg, over 86 kg.
Cairo 2025 Elite World Championships
11 October
Men: up to 80 kg.
Women: up to 50 kg, up to 79 kg.
12 October
Men: up to 88 kg, up to 59kg.
Women: up to 55 kg.
13 October
Men: up to 65 kg, up to 72 kg.
Women: up to 73 kg.
14 October
Men: up to 54 kg.
Women: up to 41 kg, up to 45 kg.
15 October
Men: up to 49 kg.
Women: up to 61 kg, up to 67 kg.
16 October
Men: up to 97 kg, up to 107 kg.
Women: over 86 kg.
17 October
Men: over 107 kg.
Women: up to 86 kg.
18 October
Men: Team Event.
Women: Team Event.
Mixed: Team Event.
