The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has announced the calendar for the 2018 season following the ITU Executive Board meeting held in Rotterdam, and the Annual Congress.

The Para triathlon calendar has been revamped, with three ITU Para Triathlon World Series and six ITU Para Triathlon World Cups.

In 2018, Para triathletes will start the season with the World Para Triathlon Series (WTPS) in Yokohama, Japan. The Series will then head to Iseo, Italy, for the first time ever as a WPTS event, after organising multiple Para triathlon races during the last decade.

Edmonton, Canada, will follow and then onto close the season at the Gold Coast World Championships.

Additionally, it is a full racing calendar with six Para triathlon World Cups in four different continents as well as Para triathlon World Cups (with dates to be released in the coming weeks).

“I am thrilled with the new calendar, it’s a perfect mix between new additions to our portfolio of events, classic races across the world and a lot of multisport and multi-day events. Our sport keeps growing, evolving and exploring new territories. We maintain the equal prize money for male and female athletes in all ITU events. Our officials and organising committees never stop learning and I am sure that we will deliver an excellent season,” said ITU President Marisol Casado.
