The USA’s star wheelchair racer Tatyana McFadden won a remarkable four golds and two silvers at Rio 2016 – finishing top of the individual Para athletics medals table. She’s undoubtedly one to watch at the World Para Athletics Championships in under three weeks’ time!

Five Facts About Tatyana McFadden

1) Born in St Petersburg, Russia, with spina bifida, McFadden spent the first six years of her life in an orphanage before being adopted by Deborah McFadden and moving to the USA.

2) McFadden, who competes in the T54 class, became the first Para athlete to win six gold medals at a single World Championships in Lyon, France in 2013.

3) The 28-year-old has won a phenomenal seven Paralympic and 12 world titles.

4) McFadden also competed in the Sochi Winter Games in 2014, winning Para cross-country silver.

5)McFadden has won an incredible four consecutive wheelchair marathon grand slams —Boston, London, Chicago and New York—in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
