Former swimmer Charlotte Henshaw will make her international Para canoe debut at the European Championships.

British Canoeing have named their squads for both the upcoming European and World Championships. The Euros take place in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from 13-15 July before the Worlds in Racice, Czech Republic from 23–27 August.

The squads are led by Paralympic gold medallist Emma Wiggs and Paralympic bronze medallist Nick Beighton, who have both been selected to compete in both KL2 competitions after impressive performances at the selection regatta on July 1.

There are international canoeing debuts for both Charlotte Henshaw (VL2, KL2) and David Phillipson (KL2), following their switches to Para canoe from swimming and wheelchair tennis respectively. Both have been training in Para canoe for a number of months and impressed during the selection regatta.

KL3 athlete Jonny Young has also received a call up to both the European and World Championships after two fine victories in the men’s races.

Rob Oliver, who finished fifth in the Rio 2016 Paralympics, will also be racing in the KL3 at both competitions during the summer.
