Day 5 at Shooting World Championships

France’s Raphael Voltz has taken the gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle (Standing) today at the 2010 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Shooting World Championships.

With a result of 704.8, Voltz was followed by Korea’s Jiseok Lee and New Zealand’s Michael Johnson who both finished less than one point behind the French athlete, and within 0.1 point of each other. Coming in fourth and fifth place were China’s Jie Liu and Sweden’s Viktoria Wedin respectively.

In the Women’s 50m Sport Rifle 3x20 on 20 July, Sweden’s Lotta Helsinger finished first with a total of 666.9 points. Coming in second and third places were Slovakia’s Veronika Vadovicova and China’s Cuiping Zhang. Germany’s Manuela Schmermund took fourth with a total of 656.9 points.

The 2010 IPC Shooting World Championships continue through 24 July in Zagreb, Croatia. A total of 246 athletes from 43 countries compete in 31 medal events, including 17 individual and 14 team events.
