World Para Swimming has launched Expressions of Interest to host the European Championships in 2026 and 2028.

The purpose of the Expression of Interest Application is to initiate the bidding process for the 2026 and 2028 events. Interested bidders can find more information on the World Para Swimming website

All Expressions of Interest will be reviewed, and a preferred host will be identified for each year, to then further explore their bid. This will be communicated to all organisations that have submitted an Expression of Interest Application.

“The European Championships draws athletes, team officials, and supporters from all over the region into the city, and therefore it is an excellent opportunity to promote not only the host city but also the region and the country, bringing accessibility and inclusion to the foreground, not only for the venue but for the host city,” Craig Nicholson, Head of World Para Swimming, said.

“The Euros have a long history of creating a legacy not only on the development of young athletes and the promotion of sport opportunities for persons with disabilities, but also through initiatives such as come-try sessions, water safety programmes, among others.”

The last edition of the Para Swimming European Championships took place in Madeira, Portugal in April 2024 with 700  participants from over 40 nations.
