International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming has conducted its first site inspection visit in London, Great Britain, for the Swimming event of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The site visit took place from 8-9 July, with IPC Swimming Technical Delegate Susan Prasad and IPC Swimming Sport Manager Agnes Szilak. Also in attendance were representatives from the London 2012 Organizing Committee (LOCOG), including Competition Manager Charlotte O’Neill and Aquatics Services Manager Catherine Castell.

During the two days of inspection, the team discussed the venue plan, accreditation and entry deadlines, the online entry system, competition details and competition management. The team also visited the LOCOG offices and Aquatics Centre, where in April an extensive testing of the pools was conducted.

Also revealed was that the Swimming programme would be a total of ten days for the first time at the Paralympics.

Qualification for the London 2012 Paralympic Games will begin on 15 August 2010, the first day of the 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Representatives from LOCOG will be in Eindhoven for the event, as well as for the IPC Swimming Forum on 21 August, where they will be presenting to participating delegates.
