IPC Swimming held its Sport Technical Committee to discuss the success of the London 2012 Paralympic Games as well as the swimming's future in the lead up to Rio 2016.

In August, the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships will take place in Montreal, Canada and are expected to draw around 650 athletes from 60 different countries.

IPC Swimming held its Sport Technical Committee meeting this week in Bonn, Germany, where leaders in the sport discussed the success of the London 2012 Paralympic Games and how they can build off that to further enhance the sport between now and Rio 2016.

The committee discussed classification and education matters, as well as updated plans for future world and regional championships. A strategic plan was worked on that will bring the sport through Rio 2016, aiming to include more competitions in the sport.

In addition, the IPC Swimming Coaches Advisory Group met this week to discuss topics such as the sport’s rules and regulations, coaching clinics, athlete development and classification research on swimmers with a physical impairment, together with the Sport Technical Committee members.
