From 25-26 July, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) conducted a site inspection visit to the city of Reykjavik, Iceland, where the 2009 IPC Swimming European Championships will be taking place.

IPC Swimming Sport Manager Agnes Szilak went to Iceland to meet with members from the local organizing committee to discuss the upcoming championships, give constructive feedback, answer questions and go over any further queries regarding the event. The group in Reykjavik included members from Iceland’s National Paralympic Committee, the Swimming Federation, the National Anti-Doping Organization, and the Organizing Committee.

During the two days of meetings, Ms. Szilak was joined by the appointed Technical Delegate Sue Prasad from Great Britain, and also visited the competition venue and the proposed accommodation sites.

“We are very happy with the work from the Organizing Committee in Iceland’s capital city and we look forward to seeing the hard work in preparation be carried out this autumn,” Ms. Szilak said.

The 2009 IPC Swimming European Championships will be 18-24 October in Reykjavik, Iceland. The event will see an expected 650 athletes and staff, along with 37 participating countries.
