The International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF) has appointed Great Britain’s Richard Allcroft as the Technical Delegate for Wheelchair Rugby at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Allcroft will be the primary liaison between IWRF and the London Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), and will be responsible for ensuring the Wheelchair Rugby competitions take place in accordance with all the rules and regulations of IWRF.

With the experience of being an athlete as well as a leader in Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby, Allcroft is taking over the position of Technical Delegate from Canada’s Eron Main, who has been appointed as Secretary General of IWRF. In a joint site visit to London they both met with LOCOG representatives and reviewed the state of preparations for the competition in 2012.

Eron Main said: “I am very content to hand over my responsibilities to Richard. He brings years of experience as both an athlete and a leader in sport, which will serve him well in this new position.”

Richard Allcroft said: “It’s a great privilege to have been appointed by the International Federation. I’m very excited and looking forward to ensuring the sport has the best possible stage for the athletes and spectators.

“Wheelchair Rugby is a dynamic sport and we expect it to be well received by the British and international audience.”
