2017 World Shooting Para Sport Grand Prix in Szczecin, Poland

Another tight showdown concluded day two of the 2017 World Shooting Para Sport Grand Prix in Szczecin, Poland, with Sweden’s Philip Jonsson nudging out the win in the R4 (mixed 10m air rifle standing SH2) on Thursday (27 April).

Leading by just 0.1 points entering the final round, the 23-year-old shot 10.8 and 10.7 to take the top prize over Ukraine’s Vasyl Kovalchuk (252.0) by 0.5 points. France’s Tanguy De La Forest (230.4) rounded off the podium.

Earlier in the day, Slovakia’s Veronika Vadovicova captured her second straight victory in Szczecin. The Rio 2016 Paralympic champion won R2 (women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1) with a score of 246.8, a much more comfortable victory than her comeback win from Wednesday’s R3 (mixed 10m air rifle prone SH1).

Norway’s Monica Lillehagen (242.0) took runner-up, followed by Germany’s Elke Seeliger (220.2).

Competition continues on Friday (28 April) with P1 (men’s 10m air pistol SH1) and R1 (men’s 10m air rifle standing SH1), and runs until Saturday (29 April).
