India will host its first World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) event next year when the World Cup travels to New Delhi in March.

The New Delhi 2024 WSPS World Cup will take place at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range from 6 to 15 March and will open next year’s World Cup season.

The venue was built for the 1982 Asian Games and since then has held multiple ISSF high-profile events.

India has one the fastest-growing shooting Para sport programmes with a lot of success in recent years. The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games saw Indian athletes collect five medals in shooting events including two gold.

New Delhi 2024 will be the final open direct quota allocation event for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. A total of 20 quota places will be available.

In Lima for the World Championships that starts on Thursday (21 September), Tyler Anderson, World Shooting Para Sport Senior Manager, said: “We are really excited to announce that New Delhi and India will be hosting a major shooting Para sport international event for the first time in 2024. The World Cup represents an important milestone in the development of our sport in India and in Asia.”
