Ukraine came away with the top prize at the 2015 ParaVolley Europe Women’s Sitting Volleyball Championships, which closed on Saturday (14 November) in Podcetrtek, Slovenia.

It took the defending London 2012 bronze medallists five sets to defeat Russia. The Ukrainians won the first two sets, but Russia won the next two to force a fifth set.

That fifth set featured many lead changes, with Ukraine persevering to take the set 15-13, en route to the gold medal and the qualification slot for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Host Slovenia defeated the Netherlands in five sets to claim the bronze medal.
