·Japan has claimed 352 medals at the Paralympic Summer Games: G114-S115-B123.

·Athens 2004 were Japan's most successful Paralympic Games to date, winning 17 gold medals (S15-B20).

·The NPC made its debut at the Tokyo 1964 Paralympic Games.

·Japan is in 16th place on the Summer Games' all-time medal table.

·Japan hosted the Paralympic Games in 1964 and will again host the event in 2020, both times in Tokyo.

·The NPC has been most successful in athletics, claiming 58 gold, 61 silver and 53 bronze medals.

·Swimmer Mayumi Narita is Japan's most successful Paralympian in individual events: G13-S3-B1.

·Narita's 13 individual gold medals are eight more than any other Japanese athlete, as Mineho Ozaki has five.

·Japan claimed 16 medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games, its fewest since claiming 12 at Heidelberg 1972.

·Shingo Kunieda won the gold medal in men's doubles (2004) and singles (2008 and 2012) wheelchair tennis. He also claimed the bronze medal in men's doubles at Beijing 2008.
