World Para Athletics has announced that Paris, France, will be a new addition to the Grand Prix calendar for 2017 with an event being held in the French capital, May 30th & 31st.

Strong of the success of the organization of the IPC Athletics World Championships in Lyon in 2013, the LOC (Fédération Française Handisport) makes an appointment with you again in May, 2017.

400 athletes from the whole world are expected and, together, we will make the mythical Stadium of Charléty vibrates. We are waiting for more than 12.000 people in the grandstand to encourage the athletes.

This major event will allow the best athletes to validate their performances for the next World Para Athletics Championships in London next July. Especially as the Charlety stadium’s fast track already has seen World Record be done on it. Dates of Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 May, join among dates not to be lacking this year.

French Open Championships will also take place for these two days rich in emotion.

A huge “Citizen & Sport” village will surround the stadium. Animations, initiations, and diverse stands will be proposed. This event will truly be a Paralympic Sport Celebration.

In order to welcome athletes and their staff in Paris the better way, the LOC proposes packs all inclusive (airport transfer/accommodation with full board/training/classification/entries). Athletes will stay at the International Residency of Paris, fully wheelchair accessible, where a lot of animations & services are waiting for them. It is also closed to the Stadium.

If you would like to subscribe one of these packs, please correctly filled in the Excel sheet for your NPC and send it back by e-mail at charlety@handisport.org before April 30th!

Paris, one of the most visited city in the world, offers exemplary infrastructures to welcome sportsmen but also their families. Capital of the culture, the romanticism, the French food, the cinema, architecture … There is so much to see and to discover in this quite unique City.

The energy that we put to succeed in such a challenge was a real participative approach: athletes, volunteers, officials, clubs, and partners and of course the public. We share this adventure with the town of Paris and the Charléty Stadium, the Handisport Regional Committee of Ile de France, the Athletics Ligue of Ile de France, the University Paris Club, the adapted sports and many partners, mainly EDF, Malakoff Médéric and all those who are loyal to us.

Deadline to register to the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Paris: May 1st, 2017. Please find more information inside the instruction document.
