Inspired by the iconic Phrygian cap, a historical symbol of liberty and freedom, the Paralympic Phryge brings the legacy of these values into the world of sports. The Phrygian cap has been a part of many significant moments in French history, such as the French Revolution. The Paralympic Phryge is on a mission to lead a revolution through sport.

Together with the Olympic Phryge, the mascot explored various sports and activities, embodying the joy and spirit of the Paris 2024 Games.

Always ready with its trainers on, this mascot encourages everyone to incorporate sport into their daily lives, highlighting the transformative power of physical activity on health, relationships, and society. With a running blade, the Paralympic Phryge represents athletes with disabilities, promoting the values of the Paralympic Games.

Get to Know: The Design and Symbolism

The Paris 2024 Organising Committee revealed the Olympic and Paralympic Phryge to the public on 14 November 2022.

Designed by Gilles Deléris of W&Cie design agency, the Phrygian hat is not only deeply rooted in the history of France as a symbol, but also is prominent today, appearing on coins, postage stamps and many other places. The Phryge is different from the previous mascots as it is based on a clothing item rather than an animal or a mythical creature, and the Paralympic Phryge’s visible disability is a representation of the aim to make sports more accessible for everyone.
